Growing up in the 70’s in an all-black neighborhood afforded James “Larry” Robinson many opportunities to stray from the path his loving mother tried to set him on before she died. The trauma of her death when he was only eight, coupled with a mostly-absent father’ was enough reason for Larry to yield to the temptations faced by most adolescent teens. Soon drugs, alcohol, thievery and gang-like activities were a way of life. But something stopped him before it was too late to make a change. Step by step, God was placing Larry on the paths HE would have him follow. James L. Robinson overcame a 17-year addiction of drugs and alcohol. He faced other struggles in his life when he entered the workplace and tried to climb the corporate ladder. With a determination to make life better for all workers, James filed a multi-million dollar discrimination lawsuit against the Ford Motor Company, and won. This is a story of overcoming the pitfalls life places in our way. By the Grace of God, James L. Robinson is now an example to others as to what can be accomplished if you always try to do the very best you can do, and never give up the fight. His story will make you gasp, laugh and cry. But it will forever make you cheer for the underdog. |
